Island of Myths
Scattered around the vast and serene waters of the Andaman Sea is a cluster of 104 of the most enchanting, verdant island on earth at low tide and drops to 99 at high tide which is known as Langkawi. These islands are conveniently situated off the historic Northwestern coast of Peninsular Malaysia. Pulau Langkawi is the largest among the islands and it is blessed with white sandy beaches leading to crystal clear waters.

The islands are richly endowed with a heritage of tremendous myths and legends. Some of the legends have some basis in truth and historical evidences and as a natural haven this island is the most prominent in South East Asia. According to the legends, Langkawi's name was derived from the eagle or "helang" as known in the Malay language. "Lang" is the short form for "helang" and the Sanskrit word "kawi" for marble, which is found in abundance on the island. Some of the legends have made the natural landscape come alive with incredible happenings. Langkawi with its legendary reputation has many places where myths and natural beauty seem to coincide harmoniously.
